Welcome to RapidRadon.com.

Who we are

RapidRadon is a radon detection service owned and operated by National Home Inspection Service. We've been detecting radon in homes and businesses for over thirty years as an added service to our home inspection business.

Follow me to find out what towns around Boston I'm finding radon levels of 4 picocuries per liter (pCi/L) or higher.

RapidRadon is also available to you without a home inspection. Just schedule a time when we can get access to the home or business and our technician will arrive, place and configure the detection unit. Then we will make arrangements to retrieve the unit, at your convenience, at least 42 hours later.

What is Radon and Why Should I Test?

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas. It comes from the decay of uranium that is found in nearly all soils. Radon gas is colorless, odorless, and without taste. The presence of radon in a home cannot be detected by human senses. The only way to know if your home contains radon gas is to test. EPA recommends that homes with high Radon concentration above 4 pCi/L be mitigated.

The Surgeon General has warned that radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States today. If you smoke and your home has high radon levels, you're at high risk for developing lung cancer. Some scientific studies of radon exposure indicate that children may be more sensitive to radon. This may be due to their higher respiration rate and their rapidly dividing cells, which may be more vulnerable to radiation damage.

Radon typically moves up through the ground to the air above and into your home through cracks and other holes in the foundation. Your home traps radon inside, where it can build up. Any home may have a radon problem. This means new and old homes, well-sealed and drafty homes, and homes with or without basements.

Our Process and Your Results

Once scheduled to where our technician has access to the home or business, via broker, owner, garage key codes, lock boxes, neighbor, or whatever works for you, we will set the unit in place and begin testing. It takes about 5 minutes to set up. Our only requirement is that power can be supplied to the unit. Our units are self contained steel enforced and tamper proof radon detection devices. They are left at the property for a minimum of 42 hours where they should not be moved or handled. Units moved will result in a misreading and a retest will result at the buyers expense. The unit monitors temperature, humidity, movement and of course radon levels during the testing period to secure you a true reading of the property. Any out of the ordinary changes will be logged and reported to you along with a comprehensive graphical analysis of the 42 hour testing period. .

After the minimum of 42 hours is met, our technician will retrieve the device (another 5 minutes) and return to our home base. The collected data is uploaded to our Atlanta lab and the results will be emailed to the address we have on file, usually within the hour during regular working hours (EST). Expect delays on Sundays and Holidays.

If your results are over the 4 pCi/L range, you will be provided with solutions to mitigating, or fixing, the problem. If you are under the limit, at this time there is no reason to take any further action.

Why use us

Our radon device is a continuous monitor and cannot be tampered with. Unlike charcoal vials, you can rely on the results you get as being a true representation of radon entering your dwelling.
